May 2016

Final Principal's blog from Steve Allen

The final term of 2015-16 is now in full swing in The de Ferrers Academy.

The Easter break saw nearly every Year 11 and Sixth Form student involved in some form of our broadest ever revision programme. At the same time our students enjoyed a life changing visit to Japan. The Key Stage 3 Assessment week has just started with our wonderful external invigilators guiding our students into the demands of the examination system - the students were very impressive and determined to do their best. The Evening of the Arts performances again demonstrated the unbelievable talent our students possess. Most importantly, everything is on track to ensure another record  set of examination results. All colleagues are totally focused on ensuring every single student achieves their potential - both students and staff have simply been outstanding.

On a personal note this will be my last blog as Principal. From May 1st Mr Holmes becomes the new Principal while I focus on developing and leading The de Ferrers Trust and supporting all the schools joining the Trust. It has been a privilege to have been the Principal of such a fantastic Academy for the last four and a half years. I look forward to working with a range of local schools and can guarantee that The de Ferrers Academy will continue to be even more successful with Mr Holmes as the new Principal.
