New principal appointed at The de Ferrers Academy

New principal appointed at The de Ferrers Academy

Nick Holmes has replaced former Principal Steve Allen following his move to Chief Executive of The de Ferrers Trust earlier this year. Nick began his new role on Monday, 3 May 2016.

Nick Holmes has been working at The de Ferrers Academy for over 25 years.  He first qualified as an English teacher in 1990, and immediately started at The de Ferrers Academy in his  first teaching role.

Nick has accomplished many varied roles during his time at The de Ferrers Academy such as Literacy Coordinator, Key Skills Coordinator, Cross-Curriculum Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Vice Principal and Shadow Principal.

Nick has also been involved in plenty of work with the Schools, Students and Teachers network (SSAT), including running the Academy’s productions and football teams.

Speaking of his colleague, Steve Allen said: “Nick Holmes is an outstanding colleague and will be an outstanding Principal. He has significant experience across a range of areas. However, most importantly he is passionate about ensuring every students achieves their potential. I am confident that under his leadership the Academy will achieve even more success in the coming years.”

The arrival of a new principal has been eagerly anticipated after plans were submitted in 2014 for The de Ferrers Academy to become a multi-academy trust.  Having a new principal in post means that Steve Allen can move to support all schools across the Trust, whilst Nick Holmes can concentrate solely on The de Ferrers Academy.
