Drag Race Comp

Year 7 Students have been involved in an exciting after school club to design, manufacture and exhibit Drag Racers.

The students have been encouraged to research the basic principles of aerodynamics, rolling resistance and down force to allow them to make informed decisions during the design process. The manufacturing of the Racers utilised a wide range of manufacturing processes available within the Design and Technology Department including, vacuum forming, laser cutting and 3D Printing.

On a slightly damp and mildly gusty day it was Team 'Evon-Fran' who were victorious, despite losing a wheel and a rear spoiler during launch, the team's race car still covered a distance of almost 20 meters. There was a large amount of competition from all teams with some innovative and creative designs which with further development could have easily taken the spoils.
