Think-a-link

Memory Man Andrew Salmon aka Sir Linkalot visits The de Ferrers Academy!

Friday 22nd January 2015

Andrew Salmon, who goes under the name of Sir Linkalot, visited The de Ferrers Academy on Friday, 22 January to deliver memory aid skills in literacy for five small groups of Key Stage 3 students.

Andrew is a passionate and talented communicator who conducts workshops in schools across the UK, and delivers to student’s and adults who could do with a bit of a boost when it comes to their literacy and numeracy skills.

Think-a-link is a fun and easy way for children and adults of all ages and abilities to remember things, across all subjects. It pushes spelling and memory techniques to levels that other programmes do not dare to tackle. Think-a-link works by linking words with images and sounds in a fun and memorable way including numeracy, spelling, historic facts and capital cities. It helps to develop ‘links’ and strategies to deal with big complicated words as well as throwing some light on the smaller 'usual suspects'.

As well as Andrew’s ‘Think of a Link-Remember Absolutely Everything’ book, Andrew has one other book on the market which specializes in spelling (links for over 1000 key words). Since the launch of the company in 2009, Andrew has presented to over 125,000 children and 10,000 teachers at 200 UK schools from Reception to the Sixth Form.

Hannah Bithell, Teacher of English commented “Sir Lincaklot is an enthusiastic and dynamic man, who has completely inspired and motivated our students today in his think-a-link session. The students have learnt how to link ideas to spellings, and have increased their spelling capacity significantly during the course of the sessions.
