Disability Equality Scheme

The Disability Equality Duty is a new legal duty that requires all schools to take steps to ensure that their disabled students, staff, governors, parents / carers and other people using the school are treated equally. The Governing Body of de Ferrers has recently approved the college's Disability Equality Scheme / Accessibility Plan (DES/AP), which sets out the proposals of the Governing Body to increase access in the following three areas:

  • increasing the extent to which disabled students can participate in the school curriculum;
  • improving the environment of the college to increase the extent to which disabled students can take advantage of education and associated services;
  • improving the delivery to disabled students of information which is provided in writing for students who are not disabled.

A working group has been set up to monitor and review the DES/AP on a regular basis. Please contact the Business Manager, Mrs M. Evans, on 01283 239936.
