UPDATE:
We will be holding a Home Access meeting for interested parents in Trent Hall, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm, on Tuesday 30th March. You will be able to get help filling in the application form and ask questions, as well as seeing the sort of packages that are on offer.
If you are a low income family/receive Free School Meals, you could qualify for a grant to buy a computer and/or at least one years’ internet access to help your child learn at home. You must have a child in years 3 – 9, and there will be only 1 grant per household.

Home Access is a new government programme targeting families that do not have access to a computer or the internet at home, launched by BECTA in January 2010. Access to ICT learning resources at home is known to help students improve in their achievement at school.
If you are a low income family, you could qualify for a grant to buy a computer and/or at least one years’ internet access to help your child learn at home. You must have a child in years 3 – 9, and there will be only 1 grant per household.
Depending on what you need, the grant allows successful households to buy one of the following packages:
1. Full package (a computer, one year's internet access, service and support).
2. A computer, service and support only.
3. One year's internet access only.
All packages come with relevant software, support, delivery, warranty, etc. You can find out more by looking at the BECTA and Home Access websites:
As a college, de Ferrers can help families fill out the forms and buy packages on their behalf, using a process called ‘aggregation’. By buying lots of packages in bulk, we will be able to negotiate a better value deal for families.
