Useful Software

There are a number of useful free pieces of software available that you might wish to take advantage of.

The college uses Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) as its main software to produce documents etc for all subject areas. Microsoft Homepage

One alternative is to use Google Docs to create & edit documents online, without the need for office software - it is also free - you will need to set up an account. Another alternative is Open Office.

Available from the Design and Technology Faculty is a FREE Computer Aided Design (CAD) package called ProDesktop. Your son/daughter must take a blank CD to their DT teacher for them to copy for them. Within our license agreement this is totally with the law and copyright laws, so do not worry that we are doing something we should not be doing.

This is a free piece of software that you can use to produce audio readings of text on websites.

Broadband Speed Checker

Measure the upload & download speed of your broadband connection and get suggestions for other pricing options.

Dropbox is a useful tool that provides you with a virtual memory stick to save and access your impportant documents, and syncs them on different machines and even iPhones that you use.
