Staff at de Ferrers jump for charity!
300ft bungee jump!!!
A team of five staff at The de Ferrers Academy will be taking part in a 300ft bungee jump on Saturday, 23 April at Tatton Park in Cheshire in aid of the When You Wish Upon A Star charity. The charity was founded in Nottingham by Barbara White who was so inspired by a seriously ill four year old with a dream to meet Mickey Mouse that she wanted to bring smiles to the faces of many more brave and courageous children.
The team, who work at The de Ferrers Academy, want to raise over £11,000 for the charity, and have already begun fundraising activities ahead of the event.
Raffle tickets went on sale between Monday, 2 February and Friday, 4 March for a chance to win a Nestle coffee and chocolate hamper! All funds raised will go towards the charity.
A quiz night took place on Thursday, 3 March at the Spread Eagle, Rolleston in order to support the fund raising efforts for the members of staff doing the charity bungee.
Staff and students at the Academy participated in a Mic night which held in the Trent hall on Friday, 4 March. The event starred Mr Hand, Assistant Principal and other staff and students showcasing their talents. Staff also donated their very own creations of cakes and muffins, on sale on Thursday, 3 March and Friday, 4 March.
The brave team taking part includes teaching assistants, support staff, heads of years including Principal Mr Steve Allen and Assistant Principal Mr Greg Hand.
In 2014, 13 staff completed a 160ft bungee jump for the same charitable cause. In doing so, they raised over £11,000.
Mr Sam Easton, Head of Year 11 and charity event leader said “It is a real pleasure to be involved with When You Wish Upon A Star again. We are determined to smash the total from 2014. The generosity of staff, students and parents so far has been amazing, and we have a really exciting programme of events planned right up until the Summer. ”.
