Apple Distinguished Programme

The de Ferrers Academy becomes part of the Apple Distinguished Programme

Trent Campus at The de Ferrers Academy is pleased to announce that it has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished Program for 2015–2017 for its 1:1 iPad programme with all Year 10 -Year 13 students and innovative approach to using learning technologies. 

The Apple Distinguished Program designation is reserved for programmes that meet criteria for innovation, leadership, and educational excellence, and demonstrate Apple’s vision of exemplary learning environments. 

Principal Steve Allen said:
“The selection of The de Ferrers Academy (Trent Campus) as an Apple Distinguished Program highlights our success as an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic accomplishment.” 

Greg Hughes, Vice Principal: Learning Technologies & Curriculum, has driven the programme:
“Since the introduction of a 1:1 iPad scheme in 2012 (Sixth Form) and 2013 (Key Stage 4) we have enjoyed a series of record breaking results every year, at both GCSE and A level. Our students have had access to detailed self-study courses and exciting digital resources across the curriculum. Teacher have been using tools that allow them to provide rapid video and audio feedback on student work and share their work instantly with the whole class. Staff at The de Ferrers Academy are now focusing on creating a series of digital multitouch textbooks in English, Maths and Science”
