Year 12 D&T visit Blue Watch
A level Product Design students hit the ground running.
A level Product Design students hit the ground running today when they were transported to the world of the emergency services by Blue Watch, Burton on Trent Fire and Rescue Service. Students have been given the brief of working with a real-life client to develop existing tools and equipment used in the Fire and Rescue Service. The visit started with a tour of the historical Fire Service museum, looking at equipment from days gone by, including a Victorian Shand Mason fire appliance. From there, students were given a quick tour of the 21st-century fire station before immersing themselves investigating equipment currently being used within Staffordshire. Students will use this valuable research to develop their ideas on current products and look forward to sharing these developments with Blue Watch who will visit the Academy in the near future to help develop the design ideas of the students. Huge thanks must go to Burton on Trent, Blue Watch for their expertise
