The de Ferrers Academy bases its approach to learning on its “Aspire and Achieve” ethos. It benefits from a strong local reputation which is the reason it has increased its admission number to 410 students to meet the demand from families in the catchment area. The Academy’s expansion has been facilitated by the acquisition of a third site for its popular Sixth Form in the town centre. This has led to a re-organisation of the students, with Year 7 and Year 8 educated at the Dove Campus, and Year 9-Year 11 at the Trent Campus which are half a mile apart. We were delighted by our Ofsted inspection of January 2017 which emphasises the outstanding aspects of our work, including high levels of progress and attainment. Staff are valued by the Academy and this is reflected in the wide range of professional development opportunities which are offered both internally and externally. In recent years the Academy has developed an international reputation for learning technologies, becoming both an Apple Distinguished School and Regional Training Centre; we provide a 1-to-1 iPad programme for all students in Year 9-Year 13.
This well organised individual will work within our Support & Guidance team under the direction of senior staff, supporting the Head of Year in creating a positive ethos, establishing high standards of achievement, behaviour and attendance.
This is an extremely rewarding, demanding and varied role, the successful candidate should possess excellent interpersonal skills, establishing constructive relationships with staff, parents and students, and become actively involved in activities both within the Academy and externally. A full detailed job description can be accessed via the Academy’s website.
All prospective candidates are very welcome to visit the Academy, and meet with members of the team. We are situated on the rural outskirts of Burton upon Trent, within easy access of Birmingham, Nottingham and Derby.
