Samuel Johnson Museum Visit

As part of their unit on Language Variation Over Time, the Yr13 English Language students recently visited the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum in Lichfield.

They got to look at and handle dictionaries from the 18th Century onwards, had a guided tour of the building and took part in workshops on how language has changed where they found out about clapperclaws, fancymongers and huggermuggers!

The students were also praised by the museum for being a 'delight' to have.

Even with all this learning, the highlight for some was dressing in period costumes during the tour of the building!
