Under section 509AA and 509AB of the Education Act 2002, Staffordshire County Council must produce and publish a statement detailing what travel assistance will be available for Staffordshire resident students aged 16 to 19 for September 2019 to July 2020. We are also required to consult with various parties on the content of the statement including learning providers, neighbouring local authorities, students and their parents.

We would be grateful for your feedback on the proposed Staffordshire Post 16 travel statement which can be found online. The offer of support via the post 16 travel scheme is unchanged for the coming year but is laid out in a new format as required by DfE. See attachment below.

Please provide any feedback by 5 April 2019 either by email to or in writing to Fiona Coldwell at:

Please be advised that your regular school crossing patrol Holly Merry who operates on Rolleston Road Rural and Harehedge Lane will be leaving this crossing point today 15/02/2019,  Holly will still be working with the school crossing patrol service as an occasional local relief.

I will be providing a Relief School Crossing Patrol here on Rolleston Road Rural/Harehedge Lane crossing, however should the situation arise, I may on  occasion have to move the school crossing patrol from the Zebra crossing on Rolleston Road/St Marys Drive,  to help on this junction until I can appoint a permanent Patrol.

Please can you inform all parents, guardians and children, that on occasions children may have to cross the Zebra Crossing on Rolleston Road without a patrol in attendance, please ask them to cross with care and for parents & guardians  to be mindful when driving and parking here.

Should you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.

A concerned parent is petitioning Staffordshire County Council on their plans to cut school crossing patrols in the Burton area and, in particular, on Rolleston Road at its junction with Harehedge Lane. School crossing patrols are essential to welfare of schoolchildren, given the increase in traffic. Should you wish to support the petition, you can find it at:

Can we please encourage all parents to complete the travel survey below for Staffordshire County Council:

The survey will be open from 1st to 26th October 2018

Thank you.
