Students are required to complete the Pathways process in order to gain places on their chosen courses. Students will choose some option subjects as well as taking a number of compulsory examined courses, such as English, Maths, Science and Citizenship/Religion/Ethics (CRE), as well as non-examined PE lessons.
Year 8 Pathways:
In September 2018, we will be bringing Year 9 into Key Stage 4 alongside Years 10 and 11, so the curriculum is changing to provide a wider range of choices and more time in the subjects that students want to study, in order to give them a better start (for the current Year 8).To facilitate this, we would like to bring some of the options choices forward to begin in Year 9. Some subjects will start GCSEs straight away in Year 9, other subjects will offer Foundation courses that prepare students for the full subjects in Years 10/11.
Year 8 Pathways evening will be Monday 22nd January 2018.
Year 9 Pathways:
This is the same as in previous years.
Year 9 Pathways evening will be Tuesday 23rd January 2018.
All Year 8 and Year 9 students received their Pathways option forms and boklets on Friday 19th January 2018.
We will run the overview session with Mr Holmes, Mr Galloway and Mr Hughes at 6:00pm and 7:00pm. Parents and students will also be able to tour the exhibition fair for various subjects that provide option subjects.
