Another day filled with pride at The de Ferrers Academy celebrating GCSE results day success!
There were smiles, celebrations and plenty of proud moments across The de Ferrers Academy today, as our students received an outstanding set of GCSE results. These results represent one of the strongest sets of GCSE outcomes in the history of The de Ferrers Academy, surpassing those in 2023, 2024 and 2025, providing a fantastic reflection of the hard work, resilience and determination shown by our students, alongside the unwavering support of our staff, parents and carers.
Ali Bickle, Principal, commented, “This is just another day filled with pride, and I am so delighted with the achievements of our Year 11 students. They have not only continually shown what a talented and caring group of young people they are, but they have also demonstrated real resilience and determination. I want to thank the staff, parents and carers for their overwhelming support. It demonstrates first-hand what can be achieved when we all work in partnership.”
Among the many smiling faces were eleven students who secured an average grade of 8 points or more — an incredible achievement. Collectively, these 11 students achieved an amazing 96 grades at Grade 7 or above, including an outstanding 48 Grade 9s.
Harry Fitton is the highest performing student, achieving an incredible eight Grade 9s and one Grade 8. He is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Further Maths and Physics. His advice for such outstanding success is to start revising early and to remain as calm as possible through the early exams.
Keisha Achampong-Appiah achieved six grade 9s, one grade 8, one level 2 distinction* and a level 2 distinction. Keisha is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths with aspirations to study Medicine. Keisha's top tip for success is to revise early and use plenty of past papers.
Zuzanna Paczoska has four grade 9s, three grade 8s, two grade 7s and a level 2 distinction. Zuzanna is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Physics, Chemistry and French with aspirations to be a pilot. Zuzanna recommends using Mr Jones’s revision techniques with plenty of chunking and flash cards.
Kenver Jayasekera achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8s, one grade 7, one grade 6 and a level 2 distinction. Kenver is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Economics and Business Studies. He is striving for a career in finance. Kenver’s advice is to put the work in, start revising from the start of Year 11 and use Mr Jones’s revision techniques.
Bella Longhurst achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8’s and two grade 7’s and is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Chemistry and Biology with aspirations of a career in medicine. Annabella’s advice to future students is to focus on the areas of weakness and turn them into strengths.
Harshpreet Bhathal has four grade 9s, four grade 8’s and a grade 7. She is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Economics and Politics. Harshpreet’s key advice is to avoid distractions in lessons at all costs.
Sonja Klepacz achieved two grade 9s, five grade 8’s and two grade 7s and is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study IT, French, Biology and Chemistry. Her advice for success is to follow Mr Jones' revision techniques and use flash cards for key concepts.
Lilly Holland achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8’s, two grade 7’s and one grade 6. She is going to Derby College to study Philosophy and Media Studies.
Liam Atkinson achieved four grade 9s, two grade 8s, two grade 7s and one grade 6. He is going to the de Ferrers Sixth Form to study Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Liam has ambitions for a career in Science. Liam's key advice for success is to focus on weaknesses, use past papers and make every lesson count.

I am incredibly proud of every single one of our Year 11 students and the resilience, determination and hard work they have shown throughout their journey with us. These results are a wonderful reflection of their commitment, but also of the incredible support that surrounds them. I too would like to thank our dedicated staff for the countless hours, encouragement and belief they have given to our students, and our parents and carers for the unwavering support they have provided along the way. Today is a celebration of what can be achieved when students, staff, families and the wider community all work together. We should all be incredibly proud of our Class of 2026.”

Their hard work has paid off, allowing them to now continue their educational journey, and I am so excited that more than 200 students will be joining The de Ferrers Academy Sixth Form.
