Dear Parents, Carers and Students

Welcome to the Sixth Form at The de Ferrers Academy!

Since moving to our dedicated Sixth Form campus in September 2018 we have established a truly wonderful learning environment. The students and staff make our Sixth Form a very special place to be. Our students have high expectations of themselves and are encouraged to be the very best they can. We have created a culture of high aspirations whereby students work hard and make the most of all opportunities.

We pride ourselves on preparing students for life after the Sixth Form. Whether students choose university, apprenticeships or employment, students receive ongoing careers guidance to enable them to choose wisely when it comes to their future. Alongside the guidance to make informed decisions we support and encourage students to develop soft skills and secure work experience during their time with us. It is important to us that students not only leave us with great qualifications but they also have had the opportunities to develop their wider skills. 

We want our students to enjoy their time in the Sixth Form; we recognise it can be a very challenging time and students need to be supported emotionally as well as academically. We have a dedicated and experienced Support and Guidance Team who have an open door policy as well as wider support teams who can offer mentoring and counselling provision on the campus. We take student wellbeing very seriously and provide advice and guidance to encourage students to be kind to themselves. 

We have encouraged students to take ownership of Sixth Form life and as a result have created leadership roles for students. We have student voice representatives and numerous student-led clubs and societies. This has developed a real sense of community on the campus where students feel part of something they are proud of.

We are delighted with our results, with the vast majority of our students progressing to their first choice destination. This continued success is down to the commitment and dedication from staff, students and the support from parents and carers. 

We are exceptionally proud of our students and their achievements and invite you to see for yourselves what a fantastic Sixth Form we have.
